FRIDAY NOTES for the week of March 22, 2015

Here's what's happening for the week of March 22, 2015:

1. TOMORROW, Saturday (3/21), a memorial service will be held for Donna, Larry's wife. It will start at 1:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, with refreshments following.

2. TOMORROW evening, starting at 6:00 p.m., Movie Night presents The Son of God. Please bring a snack to share to the Fellowship Hall. Milt told me that he has seen the movie, and it is very good.

3. Sunday, IMMEDIATELY after the worship service, singers will gather next to the piano to practice the pieces for Palm Sunday and Easter. Remember that the RCWC concert starts at 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, and I told Lev that we will need 20-30 minutes of his time. I will have the folders prepared for you, as usual.

4. Tuesday is Lunch Bunch at the Old Country Buffet. Marilyn says that she has some coupons, so see her if you would like one.

5. Friday, the 27th, some of us will be going to the memorial service for Dick Langham. It is at Acacia, starting at 1:30 p.m., and if anyone would like a ride I will leave from the church parking lot at 12:45. Please let me know if you want a ride - otherwise, I will leave straight from home without you

FRIDAY NOTES for the week of March 15, 2015

Here's what's happening for the week of March 15, 2015:

1.  This Sunday, immediately after the worship service, we will be treated to delicious soup - prepared by Marilyn using the leftover ham from our Christmas dinner.  The "Sandwich" part of "Soup and Sandwich" is if you choose to bring your own - and perhaps some extra to share.  There will be crackers available to go along with the soup.

2.  After the meal, those of us in the Keep/Keeping Hope Alive groups will have our final discussion in the usual locations.

3.  We will have a singing ensemble, performing on Palm Sunday (the 29th) and Easter Sunday (April 5) - we have penciled in a rehearsal for the 22nd - however, there is the Rain City Women's Chorus concert that day, shortly after worship, so we may need to work out an alternative.  Any bright ideas?  We will do Halle, Halle, Halle for Palm Sunday; any suggestions for Easter?  So far, the singers we know about are Milt, Kris, Linea, Colleen, Roy, Marie, Barb - feel free to volunteer if you want to join us!  Annette?  Al? Margueritte?  Ed?  Victoria? Gerardo?  Katie?

4.  Movie night is scheduled for Saturday March 21.  The movie will be Son of God - gathering starts at 6:00.

5.  The aforementioned concert by the Rain City Women's Chorus will be on Sunday the 22nd, shortly after church (12:45 or 1:00) in our Fellowship Hall.   It is a fundraiser in memory of Marty Welch.

6.  Please visit our website:  http://www.wedgwoodchurch.org and spend a few minutes clicking around in it.  Our Webmeister, Ed Wenick, has done a wonderful job - and recently has posted photos that I took at Marty's Thanks to You open house.

FRIDAY NOTES for the week of March 8, 2015

Here's what's happening for the week of March 8, 2015:

1. Daylight Saving Time descends upon us in the wee hours between Saturday night and Sunday morning - so remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before you toddle off to bed tomorrow night.

2. Sunday, there is prayer time before church at 10:30, Sermon Discussion (12:20) and the Keep/Keeping Hope Alive small groups (1:00) meet afterward. These small group discussions continue each Sunday throughout Lent.

3. There is a piano recital in the Sanctuary starting at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday - Lev's sister has students who will be performing - you are welcome to come and enjoy the music!

4. A total of $3,500 was received last Sunday, in response to the request for contributions toward Charlette's Spring Quarter tuition! This amount will be added to some funds that had already been made available, so the amount due on the 9th is covered! Many, many thanks for your continued support for Charlette.

5. The Food Bank barrel is empty! I had some items all ready in a sack, but forgot them last Sunday. So perhaps you did, too. Marilyn says that the barrel will be picked up on Tuesday - and I am sure that this is the first time in history that there was a possibility of the cupboard being bare - so please bring a sack - if each of us brought just 3 or 4 cans/boxes, that would do it!

6. According to the Obituary in the Seattle Times, our friend Dick Langham passed away on February 17. "A Celebration of Life will be held at Acacia on March 27th at 1:30 PM." That is a Friday, and if you would like to ride with me from the church, just let me know.
