FRIDAY NOTES - Week of June 28

FRIDAY NOTES FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 7, 2015:

1. Sunday, Prayer Time at 10:30, Worship Service at 11:00, then (during Coffee Time) a celebration of Charlette's graduation!

The Your Story topic is: Tell about a time when you tried the patience of someone who always accepts you. Who was that person? What was that person’s response? How did you feel about the situation?

2. Also on Sunday, at 2:00, will be the memorial service for Elliott Walters. It will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 2340 N 155th St, Shoreline, WA 98133.

3. There has been an underwhelming response to my bright idea of watching 4th of July fireworks from the Fellowship Hall, so we won't be doing that.

4. Our first-ever Book Fair will take place on Saturday, July 11, from 10 am - 2 pm, in our parking lot. Books will be collected from July 6 through July 9; you can bring yours to the Fellowship Hall during those days. Please see Candy to volunteer your help!

5. There will be a Movie Night, but we will not have confirmation of the date and the movie until Sunday.

6. We have a special request from Aimee Keith (Carl & Marilyn's daughter) who is working on her PhD dissertation and would appreciate opportunities to interview people who have had a particular experience. She describes that as “People over the age of 18 who experienced a significant traumatic event and identified as Christian at the time the event happened. In addition, I am looking for people who struggled with their faith/spirituality afterwards, but now feel that they have resolved their spiritual struggles.” If anyone would like to participate themselves, knows someone who might or wants more information can e-mail her at akresearchinfo@antioch.edu with their name, phone number, and a good time to reach them for a five minute phone-screening. In person interviews will be scheduled and should last up to 45 minutes. All information will be confidential. Also, you can see the attached flier for more information. Please note that she will only be collecting data through July 17, so if someone wants to participate, they should contact her (at akresearchinfo@antioch.edu) as soon as possible.

FRIDAY NOTES - Week of June 14

FRIDAY NOTES FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 7, 2015:

1.  Tomorrow, Saturday, those who are able will be helping at our first Work Party in a long time!  There are "outside" jobs and "inside" jobs.  Outside, I know, there are pruning and trimming to be done; inside, we have some lighter jobs in the kitchen, sanctuary, fellowship hall and office.

The activities start at 9 a.m. and we will knock off at 2 p.m.  I have assessed what needs to be done inside and have posted lists in the kitchen, sanctuary and fellowship hall.  Unless you have a burning desire to help in the office, I will take that on - since I am the one who uses it most.  I will not be there until about 11 - so whoever gets there first can have first choice of task!  Please bring with you any tools you are comfortable using.  I have some cleaning cloths, for example, that we can use.

2.  Then, after you have had a chance to rest and change clothes, you may come back at 6 p.m. for Games Night!  Bingo Caller Milt will start us off around 6:30 and  we will play a number of games - ending up with Blackout.  To be eligible for the Blackout prize, you must participate in the regular games leading up to it.  Please bring a finger-food snack, with extra to share, and any board/card games you would like to play after Bingo.

3.  Sunday starts off with Prayer Time at 10:30, then worship at 11:00 - followed by Sermon Discussion at 12:20, during coffee time hosted by the Wenicks.

4.  On Tuesday, the much-anticipated Rainbow City Band parade through the neighborhood starts at 7 pm, from out parking lot; after the parade, the Band returns to the parking lot, where all will be served ice cream!

5.  NEXT Sunday, the 21st, is Fathers' Day - and our monthly potluck.  Why not prepare some dish that was/is your dad's favorite and bring it - along with a friend - to enjoy the time!

6.  On the 28th, immediately after worship, we will celebrate Charlette's graduation from North Seattle College.  Her mother is here for a visit, and I know that we all will want to meet her!

7.  At 2:00 p.m. on the 28th, there will be a memorial service for Elliott Walters at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Seattle.  Christine will give us details, and maybe some of us will carpool from here.

FRIDAY NOTES - June 7, 2015

FRIDAY NOTES FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 7, 2015:

1. This Sunday is Communion Sunday, and the reminder to bring some food items to re-stock the Food Bank Barrel; Prayer Time at 10:30 and Sermon Discussion at 12:20; Coffee Time hosts are Katie & Gerardo.

The Your Story question: Tell about something you are good at doing. How did you develop that skill or ability? In what ways did you mess it up when you first tried?

2. On Saturday, the 13th, we have TWO activities - the Work Party (indoors and outdoors - something for everyone!) will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There are numerous chores which need to be done, and with many of us helping, they will all get done! Then, after you have been home for a short nap, you can come back for Games Night from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Bingo caller Milt will start off, and we will play for an hour or so, then break into small groups to play the various games which you have brought from home. This is a great time to bring a friend, and each of us will bring a snack with plenty to share, and have a blast!

3. The Rainbow City Band will entertain the neighborhood on Tuesday the 16th, marching through it starting from our parking lot at 7:00 p.m. As soon as they return to the parking lot, we will host the traditional Ice Cream Social! This is an event you do NOT want to miss!

4. The 21st is Father's Day - and after the worship service, we will enjoy our monthly potluck. You may bring a main dish, salad or dessert to share with all - perhaps whipping up something that was a favorite of your dad; you probably have a "story" about this dish that others would enjoy hearing!

5. Lynn has announced a change: The graduation party for Charlette has been changed to June 28, right after the church service. She will graduate from North Seattle College on Friday, June 19, at 6 PM.
